We often forget that as humans we are on earth to live first, serve others second. Between work, family, obligations, bills, we have a tendency to lose ourselves and can burn out quickly. But what if we could give ourselves a few minutes each day as a reminder that we should first and foremost care for ourselves (to borrow from airlines: you must first put on your own mask before you can help others, or you cannot pour from an empty cup if you prefer sage-like sayings)? And what if we could simultaneously fortify ourselves to care for, interact with, and sometimes just deal with the rest of the world?

Why Essential Oils?

I want to start right out with: I believe in science. It has brought us so many amazing things that I would not want to live without – especially in healthcare (and the amazingly long lives we can live with antibiotics, vaccines, scientific studies, and other interventions [and the much longer lives we could live if we properly studied women’s health – but I digress]). But I also believe that there are many things that the earth gives us that did not need improving upon. There are now microplastics in my body; I am unsure from one day to the next if what I put on, near, or in body may cause more harm than good; and I frequently have to go out of my way to try to be as kind to the earth as possible in a world that makes so much money from not. But there are still some things that I have control of and can ensure are all natural. Much of my self-care and at least some of my everyday living can be.

Why Scent?

The human body is so cool. If we ask it questions, and listen carefully, it may just tell us what it needs. One way we can do that is through scent. Krysalis custom scents are all co-created. You choose what makes your body go – yeah – and I combine those separate scents into something cohesive.

How? A little bit of alchemy, magic, scent, intuition – and with a lot of intention.

The result? It’s hard not to like something you chose all the ingredients for. It is familiar because you did.

Is it surprising? Sometimes.
We have also been told it: created nostalgia – of a place or a person, helped with grief, offered a sense of calm, and was better than anything I could have dreamt.
